Student Voice - Oo Khin Zarchy

HKUMPH

Having worked as a Medical Doctor in both public and private healthcare sectors in a resource-limited country like Myanmar, I firsthand witnessed how crucial the healthcare system is for people's health. These experiences have deeply ingrained in me a sense of purpose and an unwavering commitment to make a positive change. Driven by a profound passion for public health and an aspiration to contribute substantially to community well-being, I am motivated to pursue the Master of Public Health program. This program allows me to dig deeper into the underlying causes of health disparities, craft strategies for disease prevention and health promotion, and advocate for policies that can engender enduring improvements in public health. With its all-encompassing and interdisciplinary approach, the MPH curriculum furnishes me with the requisite knowledge and skills to tackle health challenges at a broader level.

Receiving the Naomi Molson Medical Scholarship was an incredibly gratifying experience for me. This scholarship not only provides financial support but also serves as a recognition of my commitment to the field of medicine and public health. It further motivates me to continue striving for excellence and making a positive impact in the healthcare sector.

One of the aspects I have found most enjoyable during my Master of Public Health studies so far is the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions and collaborative projects with my peers and professors. The diverse perspectives and experiences brought to the table have enriched my understanding of public health issues and solutions. Additionally, I have appreciated the hands-on experience gained through practical projects and internships, allowing me to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world public health challenges. This combination of interactive learning and practical application has made my MPH journey both rewarding and fulfilling.

Ultimately, I aspire to work towards creating a healthier and more equitable society through my contributions to the field of public health.
