Student Voice - Lau Yat Ting

HKUMPH

👩🏻 About Me:

Hello, I am Tina. I graduated from the University of Hong Kong in 2023 with a bachelor's degree in nursing. I currently work as a registered nurse in a public hospital.

💡 Why I Choose MPH:

The COVID-19 pandemic was a wake-up call for me, emphasizing the need for a multidisciplinary approach to solving global health problems. This sparked my passion to pursue a Master of Public Health degree, where I could gain the leadership skills needed to address contemporary health challenges. I am particularly interested in developing, implementing, and evaluating health promotion programs to reduce the burden on our healthcare system and improve the overall well-being of individuals in Hong Kong and beyond. Therefore, I chose Public Health Practice—Comprehensive Primary Health Care (PHP-CPHC) as my concentration.

🏆 Feel Honored:

I am extremely honored to have received the UGC Targeted TPg Programmes Fellowships. This recognition not only provided me with financial support but also strongly motivated my academic journey. With this fellowship, I feel a responsibility to achieve excellent results, bring honor to my school and MPH program, and make a positive contribution to society.

📚 What I Enjoy Most:

So far, the program has enabled me to identify and analyze contemporary health issues in Hong Kong, China, and other countries. I had the opportunity to collaborate with classmates from diverse backgrounds and learn from world-renowned academics and aspiring healthcare professionals

🌍 Future Aspirations:

After graduating with a Master of Public Health, I am eager to take on the challenges and opportunities ahead. My goal is to contribute to advancing public health and making a meaningful impact in our community.
