I have been working for a public health research project at the School of Public Health, The University of Hong Kong. In this practicum, my role was to carry out the research study starting from stages of preparation to piloting and finally to implementation. Firstly, I have developed a series of documents, such as written consent form, questionnaire, subject leaflet, sample collection checklist, a reminder to subject for longitudinal study and research ethics review amendment application. I was also mainly responsible for recruiting subjects via phone calls. Lastly, on-site household visits were conducted with subjects and controls. Over the course, I developed multiple skills and abilities, including writing skills, teamwork, commitment to quality, communication skills, problem-solving skills and resilience. It was a fruitful and meaningful experience to equip myself for a future career in the public health sector.
